Exceedingly, Abundantly

I wrote a goal today. I want 10,000 books sold or on shelves within the next year. My hopes and dreams are not small, so it is hard for me to think small. My imagination cannot be limited, not by someone else's experience, lack of success, or practicality. The moderator read my goal out loud and snickered, "Someone wrote they want to sell 10,000 books...in the next year." The last words were slow and precise like darts aimed for the bull's-eye. "Yeah, I want to sell 10,000 books, too." Her sarcasm awakened the air of doubt; the audience's laughter filled the room, echoing in agreement. With each new topic, I recorded notes, asked questions, and engaged undeterred and still excited even.

While alone, I reflected on the road ahead, and I struggled to say the words out loud to reassure myself. That's a big goal; my thoughts attacked me. I hesitated when I wrote the initial goal because I'm aware of the implications, but I still wrote it with courage.

If I share my visions with people, they are not always going to see the full picture. I am convinced that achievable and attainable goals sometimes directly conflict with God's promises and my prayers, so I will trust "Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..." until I know otherwise. Based on my current motivation and belief, this number might actually be too low.
